informal wedding dresses

The reality of informal wedding dresses is that when you choose a more simple look for your wedding outfit, you automatically become the star attraction – and not your gown!

Informal wedding dresses are becoming the IN thing today. Not only are the gowns leaning more toward informal – but brides have chosen to move away from the traditional white Victorian style gown. It is becoming more common to see the blushing bride sporting colors ranging from the light pastels of a few years ago to the more subdued shades of greens, browns, purples, and pinks.
The informal alternatives to wedding dresses are just like regular casual wear, so they can be used for other events beyond the ceremony and reception. The good thing, though, is that you’ll still look great and you won’t have to worry about spending outside of your budget. This is because going informal is all about putting the focus on comfort and style. For the cost conscious, you should know that you will be spending considerably less money than on the full traditional white wedding outfit.
An beach wedding dress can be equally casual and comfortable and yet at the same time look classy and elegant for your most special day. There are a lot of different informal beach wedding dress styles that you can select from, including strapless wedding dresses, short wedding dressesand ones with sleeves, for those people who prefer to cover up a little bit more.

Select Proper Dresses For Summer Wedding

Summer can be a good season for weddings because of its brilliant colors and long, bright days. However, the heat and humidity of summer weather can wreak havoc with bridal fashion. Brides who choose to match their attire to the season will be more comfortable without sacrificing any wedding gown beauty. Summer weddings have two principle considerations: Climate and Location. Summer is usually very hot, and many summer weddings are at lovely outdoor locations such as gardens or beaches. Brides should select proper wedding gowns.
Once a bride understands the basic considerations for her wedding apparel, she can begin to choose among different attributes of the gown itself to find the most stylish, attractive dress for her summer nuptials.
Fabric: The most important consideration for summer wedding dresses is fabric. Cooler, lightweight fabrics will be more comfortable and keep the bride cool. Cotton, crepe, chiffon, lace, eyelet, organza, tulle, and georgette are the most popular options for summer dresses.
Style: The style of the dress can help it be more appropriate for the season. A tea or short dress will naturally be cooler. Using a detachable train or one that bustles easily will help minimize layers to keep the dress cooler. Brides can also select looser, more diaphanous gowns that won’t cling to the skin. A flowy beach wedding dress is perfect for a sandy summer celebration.

Neckline: Showing a bit of elegant cleavage is perfect for a summer wedding, and sweetheart, strapless, and off-the-shoulder necklines are popular. Brides interested in a more modest wedding dress may choose a halter design, and halters with a keyhole embellishment are sophisticated as well as cool.
Sleeves: The majority of summer brides prefer sleeveless dresses to help stay cool and be stylish on their wedding day. Spaghetti straps are also appropriate, or brides can opt for a feminine cap sleeve design for more modesty.
Color: White is the vastly preferred color for many brides, and bright white hues look stunning with the bold colors of summer. Brides may accent their dresses with splashes of color by using a sash, trim, or other details, or some brides may be as bold as the season and opt for a colored wedding dress.

Wedding Dress Based on Theme

More and more new couples like choosing themes for their wedding ceremony so they can easily coordinate wedding invitation designs, wedding favors, reception decorations, colors, and other details about their big day.
A wedding dress should coordinate with the overall wedding theme, but it should do so with subtlety and sophistication. Brides often spend hours choosing just the right colors for their flowers, bridal dresses, and other decorations, and adding a touch of color to the wedding dress will ensure that it coordinates well. Options include:
* A colored sash
* Delicately colored embroidery
* Colored edging along the neckline, hem, or sleeves of the dress
* An inset panel in the front or back of the dress with the appropriate color or colored embroidery
* Colored crystals, beads, or sequins to adorn the gown
* A full colored wedding dress for a daring statement
A themed wedding dress can be difficult to find, especially if the theme is very unusual. Custom dress designers may be able to incorporate specialized theme accents, or costume retailers may have suitable options for vintage or heavily themed attire. Brides can also search wedding dresses online and designers for unusual designs that compliment their chosen theme.

Feel Like A Princess

Girls have always dream of looking just like their favorite princess from their childhood. Fairy tale looks are now available for adults. Just with perfect ball gown wedding dresses and accessories, birdes can feel like beautiful princesses on their big day.
Here are several tips for you to follow.
1. Browse magazines and websites for current bridal fashion trends. Look for ball gowns with crystal bead work to bring out the “princess” theme.
2. Make appointments with bridal salons and bring photos of gowns you like. Try on gowns that match your body shape and make you feel like a princess!
3. Try on accessories to complete your princess ensemble. A tiara is a classic way to really feel like princess. Choose between long chandelier earrings or a rhinestone or diamond necklace. Wearing both can look too heavy around the face.
4. Glass slippers may not be realistic (or comfortable), but jeweled heels should do the trick. A closed, pointy-toe shoe is elegant and timeless. A strappy, jeweled sandal is a more modern twist for a princess.
5.Consider an up-do for your hair. Teasing the hair to add height at the crown of the head will keep you looking sophisticated and glamorous. A chignon or French twist are classics, and large curled tendrils pinned up loosely will feel more relaxed.
6. Finally, top off the ensemble with a cathedral-length veil. Add volume with two to three layers of tulle and set the veil just behind the tiara. For added detail, choose a veil with beading or scattered rhinestones.

Cheap Bridesmaid Dresses When Money is an Issue

When Money is an Issue, you should find cheap bridesmaid dresses .Cheap does not necessarily mean poor quality. In fact, if you look beyond the bridesmaid-specific market, you can find an amazing array of suitable bridesmaid attire at very cheap prices.

First of all, you need to consider what you really need. Is it important that all your bridesmaids match perfectly? If not, you can often save a lot of money by buying dresses that match in color, but not necessarily in style. Do your dresses need to be new? Often bridesmaid dresses are only worn once, and frequently you can find excellent deals on used dresses.
To find inexpensive bridesmaid dresses, try looking in your local department stores. Often the dresses in the regular sections are very nice, and can be perfectly suitable for your wedding party. Many department stores also offer the same style in a range of sizes, which makes it easier to accommodate bridesmaids who may not be of average size or shape.
If you don’t mind used dresses, take a look at local consignment shops. Many of these dresses have only been worn once, and are in excellent condition. You might need to sacrifice on having the wedding party all look the same, but the savings are significant.
Having your gowns custom made is another great way to save money. With a range of styles and types of cloth available at fabric stores, you can choose exactly what you want, without the cost of a pre-made dress. Many fabric stores have sales on a regular basis, or you might get a discount membership card to use. Talk to the seamstress before buying the material, so you know what it will cost to have the dresses made, and how much material you need.
Weddings are expensive enough as it is. If you can find cheap bridesmaid dresses, you can save a lot of money, which could be better used for other aspects of your wedding. Cheap bridesmaid dresses can be just as nice as expensive ones, and no-one needs to know the difference.

Dresses For Beach

Beach wedding dresses are informal wedding dresses. Nowadays themed weddings are popular. A marriage on a beach is exciting and stimulating!

Marriage venues are an important factor to consider while deciding bridal wear. Marriage by the sea is an informal idea as opposed to the customary church marriages. Nowadays beaches are becoming acclaimed venue. One can choose from a variety of wedding dresses that suit the waters and the waves and add to the grace of the bride.
Beach wedding dresses should be simple and elegant. They shouldn’t be gaudy or too flamboyant. One can choose white, a color that is pure and goes with any setting. Other colors that could look good for beach wedding dresses include ivory, cream, peach, faint blue or faint pink colors which don’t stare one in the eye and happily mingle with the color of the ocean and the sand. To add to the elegance the dress could have beautiful, sparkling stones or pearl set in the neck pieces. The trail should be detachable so the bride can enjoy a dance in the sand without worrying about tripping.
And casual beach wedding dresses can be a halter or a strapless top. The bride can also have sleeveless dresses if she wants to show some skin and feel the sea breeze or she can have a wrap so she can cover herself and protect her from the sunlight. She just has to make sure that the informal beach wedding dress flows so that it would give her a slim look.

Wedding Makeup Tips

For many reasons, a bride’s makeup styling is very important, because there is no other day in a woman’s life that can compare to her wedding because she will be the center in that day; also the photos taken on this day will last forever. So she must be comfortable and look amazing. Furthermore, the bride’s makeup should last throughout the day with minimal touch-ups. Some brides prefer to look natural without too much glam. Also take into consideration the style of your dress and hair. A simple gown and hair may not mesh with vixen-type makeup. Remember, you want everything to harmonize on this special day, from your flowers to your face.
To prevent your foundation from coming off throughout the day and make it last longer, use a makeup primer first. The eyes are arguably the most expressive feature of any person, especially a bride. For this reason, the bride’s eye makeup should enhance her natural beauty rather than be heavily “made up”. Use a navy blue eyeliner on the bottom eyelid to open you eyes more while still creating definition. Use a white eye shadow on the inner corners of your eyes to brighten your eyes and allow the camera to catch more light. Also cover up dark bags under your eyes with the same trick by dusting a small amount of white eye shadow under your eyes. Use a waterproof mascara as it will withstand tears that may be brought on by this emotional day and will hold up longer than most other mascaras on the market. Don’t use too much metallic eyeshadow, especially on the brow bone. According to Scarramuzza, this mistake will lead to a flare around the eyes in photos. Instead, keep any iridescent eye color on the lower lids. Waterproof mascara, she continues, is an absolute for wedding day makeup where there may be lots of tears. Lipstick is a must for any bride, regardless of how much other makeup she wears. It is a good idea to wear long-lasting lipstick so that the bride won’t have to worry about when to re-touch or re-apply. Brides with voluminous ball gowns should consider softer, more romantic hair and makeup. A curve-hugging bodice, however, may need a more dramatic look. Simple gowns with little embellishment call for natural tones and classic hairstyles. The colors in your bouquet are another consideration. For balanced wedding photos, try to complement your makeup with the colors in your flowers.

Flower Girl Dresses

Looking for pretty flower girl dresses can be a pain. Not only do you have to find a dress that is perfect for the wedding, but you have to find a dress that the “flower girl” will actually wear. Mothers know how big of a problem this can be. Today we are going to talk about how to go about finding discount flower girl dresses that look good. After all, you know you want to save money, but you do not want to have to get rid of style just to save a bit of money.
Flower girl dresses are hard to find, because they are not an item that people buy all the time. So what does this mean? Well, it simply means that you may come across times when it is hard to find flower girl dresses that are perfect for what you need. However, this is a problem that can be gone with just an easy click of the a button. Yes, the internet is here to help you yet again. Finding flower girl gowns online is not only a great way to save money, but it's a great way to save time. Riding around all day in your car looking for a dress is hard on gas, as well as your time management skills. In this day and age, everyone knows that time is just as good as money.
Discount flower girl dresses are simple to find online because of one reason. That is the fact that stores have to fight for your business. If you think about it, it makes perfect sense. There are so many online stores that come up when you type in the words “flower girl dresses” that stores have to find a way to be able to stand out to you. If they can not find a way to stand out, then you are going to be left with no customers, and then they close down. Luckily for the internet stores, it costs a lot less to run an online business than it does a real business, meaning that they can afford to take these cuts in prices. Thus, you have your reason on why flower girl dresses are so cheap online.
Of course, with every good thing there is a bad thing as well. The first bad news is that not all sites are trustworthy. Some of them are going to try to rip you off by jacking up their shipping prices, meaning that, before you buy something, you need to see your item total. A lot of times stores will put a low, low price on a dress, and then just tack it back in as “shipping charges.” Let's face it, no little dress is going to cost $100 to ship. Keep that in mind before you pay out tons of money for a little dress.
The next thing that you have to watch out for are the ones that have bad customer service. Look online for site reviews before you buy a flower girl dress. By doing this you can see if there is anything negative about a site. If you do not find anything, then you are more than likely going to be fine. If you still do not feel safe buying, try to contact customer service with a “question.” See how long it takes them to get back to you or even if they get back to you at all.
Another good thing about buying discount flower girl dresses online is that you can get them in any kind of style that you want. No matter what kind of wedding it is, you can bet that you can find a flower girl dress that matches it.
Now, if by chance you buy a flower girl dress and it does not fit, there is nothing to worry about. You do not have to send the dress back. All you have to do is take it to get it altered. So if the dress is too big, then they just take it in a bit. Thus, it is best to buy dresses that are too big than too small. So keep that in mind if you are not sure if a dress is going to fit or not. If a dress is too small, they can let it out a bit, but not much. Thus, if you see the dress you like, but they do not have it in your little girl's size, then just get it a size too big and take it to have it altered. However, remember that you are going to have to do this a bit before the wedding. Do not buy a dress online a week before the wedding. By the time it gets to you and you have it altered, the wedding will have past. That's not good for you, the flower girl, or the bride and groom.

When you come to this resort, you are coming here to spend a weekend away from the world. Each room comes with its own whirlpool tub, as well as balcony. The fact that the hotel also has gourmet food, which is include in the cost of your vacation, is just more reason never to leave your room.
Next, you should choose to have Mexico weddings in Cabo San Lucas. This is a pretty popular area in Mexico, and the Riu Santa Fe could be one reason for that. This is a hotel that is not only located right on the beach, but it offers spa treatments as well. What would make your wedding day better? Well, spa treatments of course! Also located close by are a lot of nightclubs. For some, that does not sound like a good wedding day or honeymoon, but for those of you that like to party, Cabo San Lucas has what you are looking for. People go to Cancun all the time to celebrate, and that means that it's the perfect area to have a wedding. Now, when looking for a hotel in Cancun that is not a “teen” hang out spot, then go to the Riu Palace Las Americas. This is a place that is a five star resort. The staff that works there is friendly, and the food is amazing. Also located around Cancun are a number of great spots, clubs and other things, meaning that the people that come with you on your wedding day will be able to have a good time after the wedding is over. There is nothing wrong with spending your honeymoon in Cancun either. In fact, a lot of people choose this as an area to go.
These are just a few spots in Mexico that are perfect for having a wedding. However, make no mistake that there are other areas as well. If you need to look for other areas, then you can start looking for these places online. After you find the spot that you want to have your wedding in, then you can start thinking about looking for package deals to that area. You never know what kind of great resorts that you will find in Mexico that are within your price range, so it never hurts to look. Mexico is a pretty place that is perfect for weddings, so why not have your wedding there? With such nice beaches Mexico really is a place that just screams for weddings to take place. If not, then at least you took the time to look, and no harm ever came from looking, right?

Mother of the Bride Dresses

If you are the mother of the bride, then you need to be looking your best come time for your daughter's wedding day. You do not want to be walked down the isle in some old wedding dress. No, you want a new dress, and you want it for cheap. However, going to most local stores to find affordable mother of the bride dresses is not an option. We both know that they charge way too much for these kinds of dresses. Thus, you are left with only one option, and that is to get your mother of the bride dresses online.
Finding affordable mother of the bride dresses online is pretty simple. However, you do have to know how to go about doing it. Your best bet is to search for these dresses using your favorite search engine. For example, if you like Yahoo, then you can go to Yahoo Search and type in mother of the bride dresses. Here you are going to come up with tons of different sites that are offering great deals on wedding dress. The only thing that you have to do after that is make sure that it's a trustworthy site. To do that, simply look for online reviews for that site. If there are any bad reviews out there, then simply do not use that site. This just insures that you do not get ripped off online.
Of course, when searching for mother of the bride dresses online, you can narrow your search if you want. Otherwise, you are going to come up with thousands upon thousands of dresses. So if you are looking for a certain style or color, add that into the web search as well. Let's do an example. Let's say that you need to find a plus size mother of the bride dress. Finding these plus size mother of the bride dresses is not an easy task at all, if you are looking at local stores. However, when you look online, you will be able to search for plus size mother of the bride dresses as a main choice.
So why do people like to pick up plus size mother of the bride dresses online instead of trying to find them in stores? After all, if you look hard enough, then you will be able to find it in stores, so what gives? Well, there are a few answers to this question. First of all, the dresses are going to be cheaper online any way you go. Second of all, it's easier to find the dresses online. Third, not everyone likes to go to stores and look through the plus size clothing in front of everyone. By shopping for these things online, you can simply look for the best dresses in your size without having to feel uncomfortable. This is a luxury that many women use to not have. However, anyone that has a computer and the internet can do this nowadays.
When looking for mother of the bride dresses online, you will need a little bit of help. First of all, you need to know what kind of dress you want. As said before, you can come up with tons of different results if you do not plan it out. So before you take off running for the computer to do a search, find out what kind of dress will go better for the wedding. For example, if the wedding has a theme, then try to follow the theme a bit. After all, no one wants to show up to a beach wedding in a long dress that is going to drag through the sand.
Also, when buying mother of the bride dresses, get dresses that are comfortable to wear. There is no need to pick up dresses that are going to be killing you all day long. Be the end of the day, you are going to be so sick of the dress you are just going to want to rip it off. Not only that, but you will not be having a good time at the wedding. Since it is your kid getting married, you want to be in good spirits.
Overall, mother of the bride dresses are pretty easy to come by. However, a lot of people think that they are not because of how hard it is to find them in local stores. It's nice that people can now use the internet to find the dresses that they really want. You can buy all kinds of dresses online, but the mother of the bride dresses are some of the best, because they are so hard to find elsewhere. So stop spending time and money driving around looking for the best dresses when you can find them from the comfort of your own home. Not only that, but you can have the dresses shipped right to your door. Now that is service you will not find at other stores.

Hawaii Weddings & Honeymoons

Many people dream of having Hawaii vacations, but they think it costs too much. On top of that, people want Hawaii weddings, but they don't because of money! However, it does not have to be that way. When having a wedding in Hawaii, the main thing that you have to worry about is getting there. That is what Hawaii wedding packages are for. After that, it's all smooth sailing, as far as price goes. Today we are going to talk about a few tips you can use for having a wedding in Hawaii. These tips can be put to great use in planning your Hawaii wedding.
The first tip is simple, because you have to think simple. Although you want a lot of people to come to your Hawaii wedding, the more people that come, the more it's going to cost. Thus, do not invite everyone and their brother. Keep the amount of people that you bring along on your wedding limited to just a few selected people. After all, half of the people that you end up inviting are not going to be able to come. So thinking about inviting close family members, bridesmaids and that's it.
Second, do your own bar! This means do not pay extra money to rent a bar or have a caterer take care of your bar. If you do, then you are going to pay a ton of money. Buy your own alcohol and bring it to the after party. Of course, if you do not want to buy alcohol, then you can just have a dry wedding. This will save you a ton of money either way you choose to go with it. However, if you have to have some alcohol there, then you buy your own. It's the only way to go.
Next, do not buy the most expensive hall that you can find. Sure it may look nice, but it's going to cost a lot. Most of the time you can find low key halls that do not cost a lot. That is your main goal. Do some research online to see what kind of halls that you can fine. When you find one that is well within your price range (not just a little and not just out), then you have found the hall that you need to use.
When it comes to decorating your wedding, do not get caught up in all the different knick knacks that you can buy for weddings. Just focus on the main things that you have to buy. After all, the theme is going to be Hawaii, and you are already in Hawaii! How much more themed can you get then that! At the same time keep it a casual wedding. Hawaii is a very laid back place, and it's the perfect place to not dress up if you do not want to. Why dress up when you can choose to get married on the beach in your bikini and a nice throw?
The next thing that you have to think about for a wedding in Hawaii is what you are going to eat on your wedding day. The truth of the matter is that there are a ton of great foods that will stick with the Hawaii theme that you have going on. First of all, you will want to do some kind of salad. There are a ton of great salads that go great with Hawaii. One that people seem to like is the Spicy Caesar salad. This is normally served with a cup of crisp noodles. You could even choose to go with grilled pineapple salad with a guava dressing. After the salad, it will be time for the main course. For this you may want to do some grilled fish with some grilled vegetables. On top of that, try to give the fish a nice tomato basil dressing mixed with a hint of lime. Also note that tropical fruit fish is another great way to go as well, but the choice is up to you. For dessert you can not go wrong with some Kona Coffee Cheesecake. If you have people that do not like Cheesecake (because there are people out their that will not touch the stuff), then you need to get a Chocolate Decadence.
As you can see, Hawaii weddings are pretty simple to plan for. Everything from the food menu to the decorations do not cost a lot. All you need to do is make sure that you do not invite too many people. This can easily be done by making a list of only the main people that need to be there and inviting them. Inviting too many people is just going to cost you a ton of money, and no one wants to pay for all of that. If you can keep it simple, then you can get married in Hawaii without making your wallet go flat.

This Years Pushing Trend

Popular bridal trends in these economic times are a far cry from the average trends from just 5 years ago. Brides today are sharing items from their weddings with friends, and have even been know to buy everything for their wedding from thrift stores and consignment shops.
Sharing items from your wedding, or borrowing items from your friends wedding, is no longer a symbol of saving money. More and more brides enjoy the fact that something from a dear and loved friend or family member is a part of their special day. This brings the day that much closer to their heart, and will leave a forever lasting memory for both of them. It used to just be tradition for the bride to maybe borrow their dress from their mom or aunt, but now friends are sharing even their bridal gowns. In the past bridesmaids dresses made the “pass around” from friends wedding to friends wedding, but many brides these days do not mind to borrow a friend’s bridal gown either. It adds a new element to the wedding day, the element of sharing a life changing event between friends and family. Fun ways to capture the moment are being done too. Friends are bringing photos of those who used the dress previously and putting them in wedding albums to show the “travel” of the dress, and how much it has been a huge part of the happiness in both couple’s lives. What better way can you spend the beginning of a new life then by sharing it with both your close friends and family?
Brides have also been shopping more thrift stores for good, used gowns in excellent condition. More and more family members are helping in the search, to find that perfect gently used and loved dress from a past wedding. Although this alternative takes more time, then the average dress shopping does, this can be fun and a great time for brides to get together with their friends and family to find the dress that suits their needs. Several consignments shops have full sections dedicated to bridal attire, and because of the push to save as much money as possible several new consignment shops are opening that provide just consignment wedding items. This up and coming trend has come and gone and is not back again, and should be around to stay for a while. Brides are shopping more and more these days to find the best bargains for their wedding dollars, and love to get away with a great bargain here and there. Some of these shops even have a small section of new items, and sometimes networked with other individuals nationwide and can often find an item for you if they are willing to go above and beyond for your business. Everything from wedding dresses to silk wedding flowers are being recycled with love, and can save the brides hundreds if not thousands of wedding dollars. Shopping online has also become more popular and buying directly from manufacturing, these have all been proven to save brides the money if they have the time.

Do Bridal Dress Alterations

Every bride want to have a prefect wedding, and they always spend much time on preparing for their wedding. Dress alteration is often one of the most time-consuming tasks. Most wedding dresses are sold in stock sizes that must be altered to fit the bride’s specific contours. When the budget is tight, a bride may ask dressmaker to alter her dress, or may alter the dress by herself. This is not a task that can be done by a novice seamstress, however. Great care, skill, and attention to detail is required.

Allow the bride to put the dress on. Pull the slack evenly on both sides of the bodice at the seam to get a sense of how much will need to be taken in. If you only pull to one side, the bodice will be uneven. It is crucial that you keep the dress centered on the bride’s body. Mark the fabric where the new seams will be with a chalk pen.
Measure how much will have to be hemmed up from the bottom of the dress. Hemming needs to be the same all the way around the dress, which can be tricky when a train is involved. Mark where the new bottom should be with fabric chalk and pin it up with straight pins. You will need a straight pin about every 2 inches. Measure the hem once it is pinned to be sure that it is even all the way around.
Use the seam ripper to undo the seams in order to sew new ones if needed. Sometimes you can leave the old seams if the bride plans to pass the dress on. In this case, you will need to carefully work around the original seams, while still taking the dress in — a challenge for any seamstress. Ripping the seams out and starting fresh is easier, but not by much. After ripping the seams, you will need to alter each layer of the dress individually.
Sew the new seams using the same stitch that the manufacturer used on the dress. Manufacturers will always use the stitch that works the best with that particular fabric, which takes the guess work out of some of the alteration.
Sew the hem into all layers of the skirt of the dress. Just like with the bodice, you can choose to leave the length on the dress so you can let it out again later if needed, or you can cut it off. Perform at least one more fitting, and take note of any other alterations you need to get the dress fitting perfectly. It is not uncommon for alterations to take several iterations.
Press the dress and steam all wrinkles out once all alterations are complete. This gives the dress a crisp, fresh look for the wedding ceremony.

An Italian wedding idea

An Italian wedding is about as steeped in history and tradition as any wedding you are likely to encounter. Even in contemporary times, when the wedding is no longer arranged by the parents, you are likely to encounter things like the dancing of the Tarantella; the carrying of a satin purse for the purposes of collecting wedding cards containing cash gifts; the gift to your wedding guests of “confetti”, or multi-colored Jordan almonds; or even the tradition where the bride dances with every man at the wedding in exchange for money, which can be pinned to the wedding gown, or collected by the bride’s Nonna (grandmother).
The one thing, however, you can almost always count on at a traditional Italian wedding is the fabulous Italian cookies. There are varying theories on the tradition of the cookies, but the most common explanation for the tradition is that there was a time when it was too expensive to create a large wedding cake confection. Instead, family members of the bride and groom, from their mothers and grandmothers to their aunts and cousins, would all contribute a type of cookie. The cookies were then assembled into the shape of a cake, and at the point of the wedding where the cake would be cut, the bride and groom lead the entire group of people in a “cookie dance”. They dance around the reception area, with the crowd behind them, to the cookie table, where the guests grab a cookie or two as they walk by. If you don’t participate in the dance, you have to wait until the dance is over, then make you way to the table for your cookies.
The one cookie you must have is really a twisted knot of dough, symbolizing the tying together of two people, sprinkled liberally with powdered sugar. You will also find pignoli, which are pine nut cookies, and pizzelles, which are very thin waffle shaped cookies. Other varieties will include ones filled with preserves and figs, all traditional recipes from Italy.
If you choose not to do the cookie dance, a really lovely treat for all of your guests is to give them each a bag with a thank you note printed on them, and allow them to visit the cookie table with their bag. Filling a bag with your delicious Italian wedding cookies is a sweet reminder for your guests to take home of your beautiful wedding day.

Ask any of your married friends about the moment they first felt like a bride, and they'll tell you it was the moment they put on their veil. There's just something about a wispy piece of white fabric that completes the transformation from your daily persona to…The Bride.
The ideal veil depends largely on the style of wedding gown you choose, as well as your face shape and personality. Feeling royal? Opt for a cathedral-length stunner like a princess. Want something more hip and modern? Go short. Something with a period feel? Try a caged veil. Whatever style you choose, consider the following pointers before making your final decision:tip
If your dress is ornate, wear a plain veil. A simple dress, however, can take either a plain veil or one with lots of embellishment.
Veiled Threat
First and foremost, ask yourself if a veil is appropriate for your wedding. Strict etiquette mavens consider veils inappropriate for second-time or pregnant brides, though today's more modern remarriage types sometimes opt for subdued elbow-length veils and flyaways. Only you can decide what feels right.
Doodas
Any ornamentation on your veil should start below where your dress ornamentation ends, so the two don't compete with each other.
The Bedazzler
Crystals reflect light and often photograph better than rhinestones, which can look like black dots in snapshots.
Rethink the Ribbon
Though it may look cleaner than unfinished tulle, depending on its length, a ribbon around the edge of your veil could create a horizontal line across your middle, making you appear shorter.
Dyeing Don'ts
Don't try to dye an antique veil. Its appeal lies in its uniqueness; it doesn't have to match your dress exactly.
Matching Ideas
Likewise, any embellishments on a new veil -- pearls, crystals, sequins -- don't need to match those on your dress. They should complement each other, however.
You May Now...
Are you going to wear a blusher (a veil that covers your face) during your ceremony? Make sure it's long enough to flip up and over your head for the all-important kiss-the-bride moment.
Rear View
Don't forget to check your look from behind. If showing off the back of your gown is important to you, you may want to opt for a very sheer veil of just one or two layers of tulle.
Letting Loose
If you plan to remove your veil after the ceremony, have it attached to your headpiece with fabric hook and loop closures for easy on-and-off. Keep in mind, though, that if you remove your veil before the reception, it won't appear in pictures of the cake cutting, first dance, etc. Many brides wait until after the first dance.
Room to Move
If you choose to keep your veil on for the entire wedding and it's cathedral length, you may want to try a multi-layered version with a fingertip-length top layer, which can be worn on its own during the reception.
Unveiling
And finally, ask yourself this: Do you really want to wear a veil at all? Though steeped in tradition, etiquette-wise, a veil is not a prerequisite (though you should check with your officiant about any religious head-covering requirements). Sparkling tiaras, glittery barrettes, fresh flowers, and hairpins are just a few of today's more modern options.
One final note: Don't forget to be true to the bride inside. To veil or not to veil is a personal choice, but one you should make intelligently and carefully. Remember -- wearing one is (hopefully) something you'll never have the chance to do again.
